Sun Awnings - UV Protection
Here in the UK this weekend we have had lovely sunny weather. Perhaps now more than ever people are considering enhancing their home with sun awnings. Previously I have discussed how a sun awning can make a very attractive addition to your home as well as increase your homes value as well as providing valuable sun protection. For some though a sun awning may become more of a necessity.
We all know that the suns rays can be harmful. This is why sun protection is become more talked about than in the past. There are of course some people that are more vulnerable than others and *must* be protected from the suns rays at all times. This could be a cancer sufferer or small children. Of course you have the option of never going outside again but really this is no way to live. A sun awning will allow you to go outside but still be protected from the sun’s rays.
If you are considering buying a sun awning then make sure you find out about the UV protection effectiveness. There are now sun awning fabrics available that can provide up to 99% UV protection. This means that sitting in your garden is now possible thanks to this new technology.
A range of sun awning fabrics that I am aware of is the Sunsilk range - these sun awning fabrics are used by some of teh well known manufacturers of awnings across Europe. Certainly Markilux of Germany use Sunsilk awning fabrics and Nationwide of the UK uses sunsilk. These provide the most amount of UV protection for your sun awning. You may think that this fabric comes with its disadvantages but in fact the sunsilk range is well known and resepected as as being extremely strong, self cleaning and attractive.
When enquiring about Sun Awnings be sure to enquire about how much protection from the suns rays you will be getting as some cheaper fabrics do not provide as much sun protection as you may think.
