Sun Awnings
Sun Awnings – The Winter Sale
Now we have got Christmas over and done with now we may be considering buying Sun Awning as we can look forward to the summer and certainly, here in the UK, a decent summer is what we all need. The last couple have been wash outs!
The benefit of buying a Sun Awning at this time of year is to take advantage of the winter sales that most of the leading suppliers offer on their summer ranges – specifically Sun Awnings. Whilst some of these deals are of course just to get extra business during quiet periods there are genuine savings to be made – especially due to the fabric range for Sun Awnings. Summer? What is that?
Previously I have been talking about sun awnings and their applications in the home and business.
Usually the summer time is the time everyone buys their sun awning as they get annoyed with the constant glare of the sun or want to enjoy the outside world without the sun beating on them, well not this year it would appear – certainly not for us in the UK anyhow!
Summer doesn’t seem to happen for us any more. I look out the window and the weather is miserable. not only is it raining and cloudy it seems windy as well which isn’t ideal for a sun awning. I cannot think of a reason why anyone would want to be outside in this weather even under the shelter of a sun awning.
I would imagine this has had an impact of the companies who sell these products this year. After all no one is likely to think “look at that miserable weather, I must get a sun awning *in case* it’s sunny again” – I feel sorry for these guys selling and manufacturing sun awnings as sales must be down a lot especially with the media hyped “credit crunch” going on.
So my advice now, if you were hoping to get a sun awning at some point, no or in the future - now actaully might be the best time. Companies really need the business and therefore prices are incredibly competitive compared to last year and even more so than the year before. Think ahead – next year we may have more than one week of sun ! I hope!
Commercial Awnings
I have talked about how retractable sun awnings can improve your home but there is now quite a market for commercial awnings. At first you may think why any company would need a sun awning but looking closer the benefits of a sun awning at commercial premises is obvious.
This primary reason why people want a sun awning for their commercial premises is due to the smoking ban. The smoking ban in the UK has caused an issue for many businesses. Mainly businesses that rely on the general public spending their money within a building. This applies to bingo halls, nightclubs and the number one reason for a commercial awning – the good old pub. Sun Awnings
You may have seen these items springing up all over the place especially in pubs and other venues since the smoking ban came into force in the UK.
Sun awnings are a handy way to add an external shelter to your property that, when not in use, can be retracted back into a cassette. These sun awnings come in all shapes and sizes but the most common for residential homes are the type that bolt onto a wall and project out via two arms.
Sun awnings are ideal for those who enjoy being outside but cannot sit in the sun. They provide shaded area and can also add value to your property.
Of course people can buy these products as a rain shelter. Extra caution has to be used in these conditions as water can quickly build up on the sun awning fabric creating a puddle. Once the puddle has formed, every drop of water that lands on the fabric will head to the puddle and it will quickly grow.
Water is very heavy – too heavy for the awning to cope with and subsequently it is likely to break. Especially dangerous if you happen to be under it at the time.
Having said that, if the correct angle is put on the awning then water should just run off and there is then no pooling to cause this issue.
Check out the next post where I will give you further information on these products.
