Sun Screens - Keep Your Home Cool
A relatively new home improvement concept is the External Sun Screen.
As the name suggests these Sun Screens are installed out the outside of the window. The principle reason for this is they stop the heat of the sun before it hits the glass. The special type of fabric reflects most of the sun’s power away keeping your home cool.
Sun Screens are extremely similar in style and operation to security shutters. They have a very small cassette

above the window that the blind rolls into when not in use. Being the fabric is relatively thin, the Sun Screens require a lot smaller cassettes than security shutters keeping things extremely neat.
With a range of operations, the Sun Screen can be manufactured to be operated manually - with a winding handle - or the preferred method is by an electric motor. A whole house can be protected at the push of a button.
Utilising sun and wind sensor technology your home can be kept cool even if you are not at home. The sensors will automatically lower the Sun Screens when the sun gets to the threshold set and raise them when the sun goes down. Should the wind pick up the screens will also be retracted to protect them.
The special type of fabric used in Sun Screens reflects a lot of the Sun’s rays this protects curtains, carpets and furnishings from getting damaged.
The great difference between Sun Screens and standard blinds is that the fabric still lets light though - it removes the glare, removes the heat and stops the damaging rays but you still have plenty of light.

March 30th, 2009 at 11:21 amThis could really help your utility bills since in the summer the sun will not be able to heat up your home. Of course in the winter I love that I have lots of windows since I can get the solar heat thing going on nice days.

April 1st, 2009 at 8:38 amThis product sounds wonderful! My house faces east to west with my main living room facing west. In the summer that room is just unbearably hot in the afternoon with the sun pouring into it. Will check into this. Thanks!
