Garden Shelters

Getting outdoors is great for everyone but often the weather can stop us from really enjoying ourselves. Here is where a garden shelter can create the perfect outdoor atmosphere.

Primarily garden shelters provide shelter from either the sun or rain. Most shelters will do both. Patio Awning are really good garden shelters as you can choose to have them out when you need them and put them away into a nice and tidy cassette when you no longer require it. This is all done at the press of a button so it makes things really easy.

Patio Awnings are generally designed for providing shelter from the sun however they can be also used in light rain. Generally the angle of the awning should be greater than 14 degrees which will allow the water to effectively run off the Awning. This stops water pooling on the fabric which will lead to damage. You can use you Awning with less pitch than this, however you will need to be even more vigilant to stop water pooling. Read the rest of this entry »

Garden Shelters – Creating an Outdoor Room

At this time of year, now Christmas is out of the way, and we have passed the shortest day of the year, people begin to once again look forward to the warmer weather to get outdoors and experience outdoor living once again.

It is especially true here in the UK as for the last couple of years we have had very cold drawn out winters. Whilst our winters do not compare to some other countries, it is certainly not something that we are not used to.

The problem with the great British weather is how unpredictable it can be. We hope that moving into spring the number of warmer days significantly outweighs the number of days that are cloudy or raining. Unfortuantely this optimism can often lead to disappointment.

One of the newer home improvement products can allow you to enjoy the outdoors even when the weather moves against you. This is the Patio Roof, Garden Shelter or Veranda that is becoming more and more popular within the UK marketplace. Read the rest of this entry »

Victorian Verandas

A Veranda or Patio Roof can provide a practical shelter for you to enjoy the outdoors all year round. There are now many choices of Verandas on the marketplace ranging from contemporary to more traditional Veranda styles.

As well as the practical use of the Veranda, the pleasing aesthetic benefits can be significant. This is especially so of the more tradition Victorian styled Verandas.

Victorian Verandas are usually manufactured to suit your requirements and they generally have a glass Read the rest of this entry »

Five Ways to increase the value of your home through your garden

Five Ways to increase the value of your home through your garden: Keep it in good condition Keeping your garden tidy and well maintained can make a huge difference to potential buyers – An overgrown or poorly maintained garden is likely to put buyers off, as this will represent yet more work on moving in. Mowing the lawn, weeding and pruning hedges back are all small jobs, but ones that can make the world of difference to the look and feel of the area – remember, the garden is now considered an extra room, and you need to treat it as such. Your home insurance should cover your garden as well, in case of any accidents or disasters.

The Glass Veranda

As the winter draws to a close we can look forward to the warmer weather once again and get back to outdoor living.

One of the more popular home improvement products of this year will be the Veranda.

Glass Verandas are starting to appear more and more now as companies realise that out doors living, which is enjoyed by the masses, is very hard in the UK’s unpredictable, unstable climate. The Glass Veranda, as well as being an attractive addition to your home, services it purpose by offering you shelter from the elements allowing you to remain outside no matter what the weather.

Glass Verandas come in many shapes and sizes. Some companies offer a bespoke Veranda manufacturing service where a Veranda Read the rest of this entry »

Why Choose A Glass Veranda?

A Glass Veranda can be the perfect extension to your home. But why is this?

Many people like to extend their homes with the addition of a Conservatory. In theory this is a great idea, you can enjoy your garden under shelter and have a new usable room to your property.

Unfortunately, in reality most conservatories are not used as they are extremely cold in the winter months and on the hot summer days they are as hot as an oven.

A Glass Veranda offers a unique kind of extension to your home Read the rest of this entry »

Benefits of a Glass Veranda

Glass Verandas have been around for several years though it is only now, with fresh designs that they are being utlised as a home improvement product.

Certainly here in the UK a Glass Veranda is an excellent product for those who love to enjoy their garden, even in the inconsistent British weather.

As with anything, as technology improves, more can be achieved with products and this is certainly true of the Glass Veranda – rather than considering the glass veranda to be just a glass shelter above you, it can now be considered more like an additional room in your home. This is thanks to the use of halogen heater lamps that keep you warm outside even when the weather lets us down.

In addition to the halogen heaters a Sun Awning can be installed over the roof of the Glass Veranda to provide shade in the summer months – (assuming of course we have a summer here in the UK again!) . The glass veranda then achieves something no other product can achieve Read the rest of this entry »

Glass Verandas

A new home improvement product that is showing itself on today’s market is the Glass Veranda. Glass verandas (and also can be spelled  glass verandahs) provide an attractive and practical addition to your home.

Glass verandas, sometimes known as glass atriums are a great way of enjoying being outside whist having protection from the great British weather. Not only can your glass veranda provide you with shelter from the rain but you can also install awnings or exterior conservatory blinds on top to give you protection from both the sun and the rain.

As talked about in previous posts here, many people buy sun awnings for rain protection. Read the rest of this entry »

Summer? What is that?

Previously I have been talking about sun awnings and their applications in the home and business.

Usually the summer time is the time everyone buys their sun awning as they get annoyed with the constant glare of the sun or want to enjoy the outside world without the sun beating on them, well not this year it would appear – certainly not for us in the UK anyhow!

Summer doesn’t seem to happen for us any more. I look out the window and the weather is miserable. not only is it raining and cloudy it seems windy as well which isn’t ideal for a sun awning. I cannot think of a reason why anyone would want to be outside in this weather even under the shelter of a sun awning.

I would imagine this has had an impact of the companies who sell these products this year. After all no one is likely to think “look at that miserable weather, I must get a sun awning *in case* it’s sunny again” – I feel sorry for these guys selling and manufacturing sun awnings as sales must be down a lot especially with the media hyped “credit crunch” going on.

So my advice now, if you were hoping to get a sun awning at some point, no or in the future –  now actaully might be the best time. Companies really need the business and therefore prices are incredibly competitive compared to last year and even more so than the year before. Think ahead – next year we may have more than one week of sun ! I hope!
