Patio Awnings

Here in the UK over the last few days we have been blessed with some lovely sun shine. In fact, it is quite amusing how many people  I have heard complaining about the heat! Especially after we have had so many poor summers over the last few years!

It is uncommon to have such heat so early in the year but hopefully this is a sign that a good summer is at last on its way to us!

Sitting in the sun makes you realise its immense power and how important it should be to keep yourself and your children out of the sun for any length period of time. With the sun so high in the sky at this time of year it is often the case that dun damage can be caused right up to 8 in the evening! Something that doesn’t really happen towards the end of July to August when we usually see the hottest weather.

As you know, I am a strong believer in the use of Patio Awnings. Continue reading

Five Ways to increase the value of your home through your garden

Five Ways to increase the value of your home through your garden:
Keep it in good condition
Keeping your garden tidy and well maintained can make a huge difference to potential buyers – An overgrown or poorly maintained garden is likely to put buyers off, as this will represent yet more work on moving in. Mowing the lawn, weeding and pruning hedges back are all small jobs, but ones that can make the world of difference to the look and feel of the area – remember, the garden is now considered an extra room, and you need to treat it as such. Your home insurance should cover your garden as well, in case of any accidents or disasters.

Patio Awnings

At the time of writing we are experiencing a pretty cold winter. Some of the weather conditions have ground the UK to a stop. It is hardly the time that people are thinking of Patio Awnings.

Now we are getting to the end of the worst of the weather, when the sun is shining you can once again begin to feel it’s warmth and it immediately makes you look towards the summer in the hope that this year, we will get a good one. Cold winters should equal warm summers. Also the laws of probability should state that due to the number of poor summers we have experienced we should be on for a hot one at last!

Sun Awnings – The Best Time To Buy?

Well it has been a while since the last post. The summer has been a great disappointment for us in the UK as we have had poor weather for many years and this year we were promised something special. Unfortunately the sunny days have been few and far between and inconsistent weather has been prominent.

There is still a chance for some sun still this year and those who were planning to invest in a Sun Awning product may find that this poor summer has really worked too their advantage when considering a purchase of a Sun Awning. Continue reading

Patio Sun Awnings – Sun Protection

Most people ejoy getting outdoors, especially in the summer on a nice sunny day. The problem with this is that the Sun’s rays are so damaging to the skin and with the mid day sun, damage can occur much quicker that you would expect.

Sun Protection – Sun Awnings

Here in the UK today the sun is shining. Yesterday the sun was out for most of the day. It still feels a little cold when it clouds over but with the sun out it really feels like summer is well on the way.

Even the media are now saying that the forecast for this summer is looking really good so if they are correct, the UK could get a nice long hot decent summer which will lift everyone’s spirits

As I sat out in the sun yesterday I could feel myself burning. This is a real danger to everyone, especially us with fairer skin. Sun protection is a must in this weather as it will not take long to get burned and the implications later in life can have serious effects.

Sun Awnings can offer this type of sun protection by Continue reading

Patio Awnings

A lot of homes have patios – in theory, great for barbecues, great for outdoor dining or just sitting down enjoying the outside world. However the weather in the UK often lets us down and  prevents people getting outside.

When we finally get some nice weather often the patio area can only be enjoyed early morning or late afternoon as the heat of the sun makes it uncomfortable and the ever growing risk of the sun’s UV rays make it unsafe to sit outdoors.

A patio Sun Awning is the ideal solution Continue reading

Sun Awnings – Information on Awning Fabrics

Sun Awning fabrics come in many different qualities. Really this is a major defining fact between a cheap Sun Awning and a high quality sun awning.

Higher quality Sun Awnings generally use either an acrylic fabric or a polyester fabric. Both should have the necessary coatings to repel dirt and prevent any mildew of rot from forming.

Polyester Sun Awning fabrics is really the newest type of fabric to his the Sun Awning market. Polyesters is much thinner and more durable than the standard acrylic  Awning fabrics. On top of this, polyester tends to let less water through meaning people can use their Sun Awnings as a rain shelter in light showers without water getting through. The general look of polyester Sun Awning fabrics generally gives brighter colours that are more hard wearing. Continue reading

Sun Awnings – The Winter Sale

Now we have got Christmas over and done with now we may be considering buying Sun Awning as we can look forward to the summer and certainly, here in the UK, a decent summer is what we all need. The last couple have been wash outs!

The benefit of buying a Sun Awning at this time of year is to take advantage of the winter sales that most of the leading suppliers offer on their summer ranges – specifically Sun Awnings. Whilst some of these deals are of course just to get extra business during quiet periods there are genuine savings to be made – especially due to the fabric range for Sun Awnings.

Summer? What is that?

Previously I have been talking about sun awnings and their applications in the home and business.

Usually the summer time is the time everyone buys their sun awning as they get annoyed with the constant glare of the sun or want to enjoy the outside world without the sun beating on them, well not this year it would appear – certainly not for us in the UK anyhow!

Summer doesn’t seem to happen for us any more. I look out the window and the weather is miserable. not only is it raining and cloudy it seems windy as well which isn’t ideal for a sun awning. I cannot think of a reason why anyone would want to be outside in this weather even under the shelter of a sun awning.

I would imagine this has had an impact of the companies who sell these products this year. After all no one is likely to think “look at that miserable weather, I must get a sun awning *in case* it’s sunny again” – I feel sorry for these guys selling and manufacturing sun awnings as sales must be down a lot especially with the media hyped “credit crunch” going on.

So my advice now, if you were hoping to get a sun awning at some point, no or in the future –  now actaully might be the best time. Companies really need the business and therefore prices are incredibly competitive compared to last year and even more so than the year before. Think ahead – next year we may have more than one week of sun ! I hope!
